North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson has been handed a $20,000 fine and suspended two-match ban until the end of the 2025 season by the AFL for hisClarkson will also attend Pride in Sport training, while the suspended sentence of his two-game ban means it’ll take effect in the event of another breach. The massive fine meanwhile won’t come out of the Kangaroos’ soft cap.
Clarkson earlier this week apologised to Webster and St Kilda for his “inappropriate” expletive laden spray – in which he reportedly used the slur c***sucker – in a heated moment caught on camera.The AFL has sanctioned Clarkson “Alastair’s conduct does not represent behaviour acceptable to anyone in our game and not what is expected of a senior coach, especially someone of Alastair’s experience,” AFL general counsel Stephen Meade said.
The 55-year old on Friday reiterated his apology from earlier this week and acknowledged his outburst at St Kilda players was “unnecessary’ and that his language used was “inappropriate”.
