We should not rush to judgment too quickly in the case of Daniel Penny. Too many already have done that, writes cptime.

Protesters blocked subway tracks at one point and took to the streets with calls to punish Penny, claiming that Penny would have been locked up immediately had he not been white.and sensibly noted that the investigation is continuing.

Indeed, the fact that the medical examiner called Neely’s death a homicide is a description of the cause of his death, not Penny’s motives.Adams is right. Although some of the protesters and other critics call the former Marine a “trained killer” who knew what he was doing, military training and police training are hardly the same, although some misguided souls might like to make it so.

The tragedy of Neely’s death will not be made any less tragic by rushing to judgment. In an era in which police are being encouraged to improve relations and build allies in the communities they serve, we should not condemn someone who genuinely is trying to help maintain order.
