Schmidt said getting the pond installed was a feat of co-operation between city departments to come up with a funding proposal, and a design that would solve the flooding problem, without leaving behind a multi-million-dollar eyesore for the surrounding neighbourhood. Barbara Hanbidge, who has lived in the area for 20 years, said she’s been lucky flooding has affected her yard more than her home, but many of her neighbours have shared horror stories.
