Mayor Deegan says"Get Covered Jax" is intended to help people who are not able to afford health care and use the emergency room as their primary source of care.JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The city of Jacksonville announced Thursday morning, a"health care for all" initiative to help uninsured people in Jacksonville.Deegan says the plan is aimed at helping people who cannot afford health care and are using the emergency room as their primary form of care.

"We have a whole population of people that are using the emergency room as their primary care, that's the big issue in terms of costs and what we can do to really move that dial," Deegan said. To be eligible, you must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully present in the country, reside in the state in which your marketplace is located and must not be currently incarcerated.
