City lifts precautionary boil notice for Cape Town's Deep South residents

Residents from Noordhoek, Redhill, Simon's Town, Sun Valley, Kommetjie, Ocean View, Scarborough, Masiphumelele and Glencairn no longer have to boil their water before drinking or cooking.

The most recent sampling results show that the water quality meets national water quality standards , so residents from Noordhoek, Redhill, Simon’s Town, Sun Valley, Kommetjie, Ocean View, Scarborough, Masiphumelele and Glencairn no longer have to boil their water before drinking or cooking.The water is safe to drink, according to multiple sets of sampling by the City’s Scientific Services Branch and Environmental Health Service.

Last night, parts of the Deep South were placed on a precautionary boil notice after routine sampling revealed that water quality at a few sampling points did not meet national standards.A task team assessed and determined that the most likely cause of the non-compliant samples was cross-contamination of the samples rather than contamination of the source water.Also read:
