During a Tuesday committee meeting, the Mobile City Council set the scope of its investigation into claims former Mobile Police Chief Paul Prine made against ot

Tue, May 7th 2024 at 4:49 PMCity Council one step closer to investigating former police chief 's allegations her city leaders. The council fired Prine last week at Mayor Sandy Stimpson's request. In the weeks leading up to the vote, Prine made a series of accusations of wrongdoing and unethical behavior in the Stimpson administration. A handful of citizens wearing t-shirts supporting Prine watched the council members debate the parameters.

The city council will hire special counsel to decide if anything illegal or unethical occurred or if any actions did not follow policy. The special counsel will investigation four different categories: Councilmen CJ Small and William Carroll introduced the resolution two weeks ago to investigate Prine's accusations. Carroll says he's satisfied with the agreed upon scope.

Councilmen Josh Woods and Ben Reynolds are now tasked with vetting outside attorneys who have no connections to people involved in the investigation and making sure they're qualified.
