City officials are taking the first steps to making San Antonio a 'marvel' of Texas.
The city council is learning of plans to expand the convention center as part of Project Marvel. In a meeting Wednesday, the city council heard the first phases of the plans to expand the city's convention center.
"It's my view that I think we need to continue to do what we can to expand and own as much of the market as we possibly can because this remains a city that people love to come to," Mayor Ron Nirenberg said. "We've had to turn away more than $700 million of business in the past six years because our convention center is too small," one man said.That kind of build would put San Antonio in the conversation with some of the largest facilities in the country, bringing opportunities and dollars back to local citizens.
Council members also voiced concerns about things like traffic and keeping citizen dollars local when hiring developers.
