Citizen Bull, trained by Bob Baffert, won the $200,000 Robert Lewis Stakes at Santa Anita, securing a significant victory in his first start since September. This win earned him 20 qualifying points towards the Kentucky Derby.

Citizen Bull , trained by Bob Baffert , won the $200,000 Robert Lewis Stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday, defeating Rodriguez by 3 3/4 lengths in the three-year-old colt's first start since winning the Del Mar Futurity in September. Citizen Bull completed the mile race in 1:36.71 under jockey Martin Garcia. This victory earned him 20 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby in May.

Baffert, known for his successful training record, celebrated his seventh consecutive win and 13th overall in the Grade 3 race.Citizen Bull, last year's 2-year-old champion male, exhibited a burst of speed from the starting gate, quickly taking the lead while racing on the inside. Despite bobbling initially, the colt recovered swiftly, showcasing his impressive abilities. Garcia, who rode Citizen Bull, remarked on the horse's eagerness during warm-up and his remarkable acceleration when the gates opened. He described the colt's initial break as too fast, but praised his quick recovery. The race concluded with a Baffert-dominated finish, placing Rodriguez second and Madaket Road third, securing a 1-2-3 sweep for the Hall of Fame trainer. Citizen Bull paid $3.80, $2.20, and $2.10 at 4-5 odds, while Rodriguez returned $2.40 and $2.10, and Madaket Road paid $2.10 to show. Baffert expressed confidence in Citizen Bull's potential, stating, 'The champ is back.' He noted the colt's ability to shift gears during races, a trait not always evident during morning training sessions
