A week before he was scheduled to report to federal prison, Roger Stone's lawyers have filed a motion seeking to delay his surrender, citing the deadly risk posed by the coronavirus outbreak.

He was convicted in November of lying to Congress and witness tampering.

The 67-year-old was sentenced to 40 months in prison on Feb. 20 by Judge Amy Berman Jackson in Washington, D.C. Jackson will need to sign off on the latest bid by Stone to delay his sentence, but his motion was unopposed by the Department of Justice.
