The family of Stefan Volkmann, who died after being shot, seeks more than $1 million in damages in wrongful death lawsuit against Circle K, store landlord.
The family of a man who was shot last year at a San Antonio convenience store and later died from his injuries has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Circle K Stores Inc. and its landlord. Stefan Volkmann was a patron Aug. 21 at the Circle K at 4698 Old Sequin Road when he was shot by a “known panhandler in the area,” the suit alleges. Volkmann was 41.
Convenience store chain wants court to set aside $4.5M award in San Antonio-area clerk’s slaying Circle K spokesman Chris Barnes said the chain does not comment on pending litigation. Ashita principal Sammy Virani said it had “nothing to do” with the incident at the store, saying, “We’re just a landlord.” Virani said that the store’s lease agreement calls for Circle K to indemnify Ashita for any liability arising from litigation.
