Several drivers reported vehicle problems after fueling up at a Circle K gas station on Chester Road in Avon, Ohio, on Sunday, January 19. Scott Bauchmoyer, one of the affected drivers, told WOIO that his Jeep started sputtering, lights flashed, and a large plume of white smoke emerged after he tried to start it. A mechanic diagnosed the issue as diesel fuel contamination in his gas tank and fuel lines, requiring a tow to the dealership and costly repairs.
Bauchmoyer, facing a $1,100 repair bill, excluding towing and rental costs, contacted WOIO seeking compensation from Circle K. Another driver, operating a Ford F350, also reported problems after fueling at the same Circle K station. He informed WOIO that his truck had been taken to a repair shop after being mistakenly filled with unleaded gasoline. Circle K acknowledged the incident, confirming a 'cross drop' where diesel was mistakenly added to unleaded storage tanks and unleaded was added to diesel storage tanks. The company assured customers that fuel quality is guaranteed and apologized for the inconvenience caused.Circle K stated that they immediately shut down fuel pumps at the Avon location upon discovering the issue and replaced the fuel in the affected tanks. They are also actively working with affected customers, offering assistance with claims and reimbursement for repairs or associated costs.
