The Cinnaminson boys basketball team pulled off a stunning upset victory on Saturday, defeating the highly ranked Central Regional 43-42 at the Holy Cross Prep Showcase. Despite scoring only 23 points over the final three quarters, Cinnaminson's stifling defense held the Shore Conference squad at bay. Central Regional entered the game ranked No. 19 in statewide NJ.

Cinnaminson coach Mike Fries acknowledged the significance of the win, stating, 'It's more than a big win. It's huge. It was a phenomenal game.' The Pirates, playing a challenging schedule to prepare for the postseason, had faced a number of losses recently. Senior forward Sody Gantt, who contributed eight points, 11 rebounds, and four assists, highlighted the team's determination. He said, 'We asked for the hard schedule. This was a big risk, high reward game. This was really big for us. We’ve gone through some bad losses so far and this can really turn it around for us.' Senior guard Colin Parrish led Cinnaminson with a game-high 24 points, including four 3-pointers and a pair of dunks. The victory came down to the wire, with Central Regional's senior guard Jaycen Santucci tying the game at 34-34 with 5:18 remaining in the fourth quarter. However, Drew Harvey responded with a crucial corner 3-pointer for Cinnaminson. Santucci, who had scored Central's first 10 points of the fourth quarter, finished with 24 points, along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Despite the loss, Central Regional coach Mike Clemente saw the potential for growth. He stated, 'We got off to a bad start, but give them a lot of credit. They did some tricky things that really messed up our rotations defensively. Things just weren't clicking for us. Sometimes at this point of the season, you need that reality check a little bit. Hopefully this allows us to turn the corner. You have to look in the mirror a little bit, figure some things out about how you could be better because postseason is right around the corner.' The victory marked a turning point for Cinnaminson, proving their resilience and ability to compete against top-ranked opponents.
