Detailing her “lake life” escapades on Instagram, Cindy made a strong case for swapping beach vacays for time in the wilderness – consider us convinced.
“Research shows that spending just two hours a week in nature significantly improves our health and satisfaction,” Ellen Devine, wellbeing projects manager at Forestry England previously told, adding that it’s also indirectly good for the environment. “The more time we spend in forests, the more likely we are to feel part of the world around us, and be inspired to do what we can to protect it.”
You don’t need to escape to a remote cabin to reap the benefits of forest bathing, either – you can actually do it in your local park. All you have to do is be present and focus on your surroundings. That means putting your phone away and connecting with your senses – notice the smell of the grass, for example, or the sound of the birds.
