Church of England set for clashes over same-sex marriage policy this week as General Synod meets
Under the proposed changes, each member of the clergy will be able to decide whether or not to conduct such blessings. She described the current approach as “harmful”, adding: “If you tell a young LGBT person their desire to be loved and have a loving relationship is wrong and sinful, you are going to impact their mental health.”
Some conservative evangelicals in the Synod went further, vowing to oppose any concessions on so-called “sexual immorality”.
