Chum salmon fishing has been closed by ADFG due to low run counts.
Published: Aug. 16, 2024 at 4:58 PM AKDTFAIRBANKS, Alaska - On August 16, fishing for chum salmon closed throughout the Yukon River and Tanana River drainage areas.
Ongoing rains diminished the ability to count salmon in the interior as waters became murky. Yet at Pilot Station, the sonar count has still come short of the run size goal.
