It was in August of 2022 that the City Council announced they were closing Harborside Park … so the city could evict dozens of unhoused people who had taken shelter there during the pandemic. At the time, the plan was to eventually reopen the park. But as the months went by city leaders started talking about closing it permanently. That shocked residents who live near Harborside.
