ANCHORAGE , Alaska - The CEO of Chugach Electric Association, Arthur Miller, spoke at the Anchorage Chamber’s weekly Make It Monday Form. He updated attendees on the utility’s projects and plans. Among them, a community solar project, updating the Southern Transmission line to the Kenai Peninsula, and building an operations center at Cooper Landing.
“We certainly support in-state gas, in-state gas development, whether it’s in Cook Inlet or the North Slope. If we have to import liquefied natural gas, we will and will continue to pursue that.” Other areas of interest to Chugach Electric are changes occurring in the electric power industry like decentralization of the power grid and a heightened interest in decarbonization. When asked if customers’ rates would rise as a result of the utility’s projects and plans, Miller said, “I think in general, prices go up, but we’re doing everything we can to keep electric rates as low as possible.”Pack of dogs accused of killing another dog captured, according to AACC
