Louisville's star point guard, Chucky Hepburn, is likely to miss the Cardinals' game against Miami due to a groin injury sustained during their win over Boston College. Coach Pat Kelsey says Hepburn is day-to-day and the team will make a decision based on his recovery over the next two days.
The Louisville men's basketball program will face Miami without their star player. Point guard Chucky Hepburn , who leads the Cardinals in points per game and tops the ACC in assists per game, has been ruled out for today's matchup against the Hurricanes. Hepburn sustained a groin injury during Louisville's 84-58 victory at Boston College on Wednesday night. He was injured at the 15:15 mark of the second half and walked off the court with trainers.
While he briefly returned to the bench area, he was listed as 'questionable' to return and ultimately did not re-enter the game. He finished with 12 points, three assists, and two rebounds in 24 minutes of play. Head coach Pat Kelsey stated on Friday that Hepburn was 'day-to-day' and questionable for the Miami game. 'Just seeing how he responds today and tomorrow with some rest and treatment, and we'll go from there,' Kelsey said. 'We'll be smart, obviously, about what we do. It's about getting him to the jump circle healthy. That's the focus of the next two days.' Hepburn's absence is a significant blow to Louisville, as the 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard has been instrumental in the team's success during Kelsey's first year as head coach. Entering the Boston College game, Hepburn was averaging career-highs of 15.1 points, 6.4 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game. His assist and steals marks rank 12th and 13th in D1, respectively
