Christopher Nolan is one of the greatest film directors of this century, a title we can all agree is well-deserved. Since 1993, the award-winning filmmaker has helmed a ton of brilliant projects, the most recent of which is the 2023 pic Oppenheimer, which won him Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture.
Nolan’s next and highly anticipated project is The Odyssey, which is stacked with an all-star cast and isn’t expected until July 2026. As fans eagerly count down till then, one of the director’s much older productions, also featuring a star-studded ensemble, just got an exciting streaming update. Released in October 2006, The Prestige is regarded by many as one of Nolan’s most extraordinary works and, nearly two decades after its debut, it has a new streaming home, just sadly not in the U.S. We can confirm that The Prestige was recently added to Prime Video in the UK, joining several other favorite oldies also added this month, including Django Unchained , Once Upon a Crime , Casino , The Chocolate War , and Saving Grace , among others. The Prestige was a hit among critics and audiences alike, with many applauding it for its lead performances and Nolan’s directing. On Rotten Tomatoes, it boasts a Certified Fresh 77% rating from critics, with the consensus stating, “Full of twists and turns, The Prestige is a dazzling period piece that never stops challenging the audience.” The audience, on the other hand, gave the movie an impressive 92% score, with many obsessed with the numerous twists and turns. ‘The Prestige’ Is Totally Worth Watching! Based on the 1995 novel by Christopher Priest, The Prestige follows two 19th-century magicians who turn against each other in a bitter battle for supremacy after an illusion goes horribly wrong. Terrible consequences loom when the pair escalate their feud, each seeking not just to outwit but to destroy the other man. Starring in the Oscar-nominated film are Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman as the feuding magicians, while Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson, Rebecca Hall, Piper Perabo, Andy Serkis, and David Bowie round out the star-studded cast.
