“We play Christmas music in here year-round,” said Alicia Vandiver, one of the workers at Little Richard’s Family Diner.was at the diner returning from the long haul to Washington D.C. “The best part of any long trip is the return back home,” said Austin. North Pole being his home also helped him carry the Christmas spirit to other communities across the country as he delivered the Capitol Christmas Tree. “North Pole’s got its aura, its candy cane lights and all that, North Pole has an aura and that shines brighter at Christmas,” Austin said. He wasn’t the only jolly delivery man at the diner spreading cheer. Eric Benz, a delivery driver for UPS was also spreading Christmas spirit, even comparing himself to Santa. At least that’s how he takes part in the holiday. “It’s basically being out, out and about well, being a Santa Claus be with as a driver, delivering packages, so tomorrow will be my best day of playing Santa Claus,” he said. That’s not the only form of celebration he engages in, Eric and his wife Lora are both holiday decorators. “I love the holidays, I have always been a Christmas nut and before we moved here, we would do our whole yard up it,” Lora said. “But living out there in rural Salcha, we kind of toned it down a little bit because nobody visits, nobody’s around.” It’s a community spirit and the climate certainly helps. “I think it’s perfect well, considering it’s North Pole and you know there’s lots of snow, it makes, it makes it feel Christmassy,” said Vandive
