Actor Christina Applegate opens up on the impact that the autoimmune disease multiple sclerosis has had on her life and acting career. NBC’s Anne Thompson reports for TODAY.
Season Six of reality dating show “Love Island USA” has a new host, juicy love triangles and, according to reality TV junkie Christina Applegate, some highly annoying details that need to be addressed.
The actress has been open about jumping on the reality TV bandwagon after her MS diagnosis — and she recently took to X to express her love and her “beef” with the popular dating series. “I adore Love Island. Have watched every season. It I have a beef with production and contestants. Can you pls stop making weird sounds with your water bottles? like holding straw in mouth and chewing it and not sipping. Or girls with long nails making clicky clackety sounds on ha,” she wrote in a tweet on July 3. Apparently that’s not the only issue the actor has with the show. In another tweet on X, she followed up with a second grievance: “Also to add to my Love island rant. White deodorant on the armpits in the heat is gross.” She continued, “Now you all are very attractive people, please use clear deodorant!!! The white puss looking shit in the folds is not bueno. This is just me helping you be the best version of you. Haha.” Following her hilarious rant, other 'Love Island' fans weighed in, with some calling out the worst offenders. “Especially Liv! She uses that water bottle like a security blanket!!” wrote one user. 'I think curdled deodorant is absolutely disgusting, but I have never said it. So nasty. Thank you for opening that door of discussion,' said one user. 'Yes, It makes me gag just looking at it. Thank you!!' another agreed. It also inspired people to add to Applegate's list of 'beef' about the show, including female contestants wearing full makeup all day long and the dramatic “I’ve got a text” announcements. Despite some of the contestants' habits giving her the ick, Applegate doesn't appear to be deterred from tuning in. The actor previously spoke about her appreciation for all things reality TV, following her MS diagnosis. “I just started two years ago when I got diagnosed,” Applegate said during an April episode of her MeSsy podcast, Entertainment Weekly reported. “In the two years that I’ve been watching from my bed, I have watched probably, what? 300 hours of reality TV, I would imagine. Probably more.”
