USMNT star Christian Pulisic and professional golfer Ingrid Melton have reportedly ended their relationship. The breakup, which occurred earlier this year, has been accompanied by social media posts from both parties addressing rumors and defending their privacy.
Christian Pulisic, the 27-year-old USMNT captain and AC Milan midfielder, and Ingrid Melton, a 25-year-old professional golfer, began dating in June 2024. The relationship appeared to be serious, with Melton later describing Pulisic positively in an interview.
However, by early 2025, the couple had separated. In April 2025, Melton took to her Instagram Story to address online speculation, writing, "He is not a cheater," and stating that any narrative beyond that was not hers to share. Her post was interpreted as a direct response to rumors that Pulisic had used a dating app before their breakup. Pulisic also addressed the situation on his own Instagram account.
He posted a screenshot of a story from the account Motivating Sport, which had apparently fabricated a story about his personal life.
"Fake news guys, let's stop with the silly rumor," he wrote. He added via his Instagram Story, "Also please stop with the made up stories about my personal life. Need to hold sources accountable, it can affect people's lives.
" Both athletes emphasized the importance of privacy and asked fans and media to respect their boundaries. In an earlier interview conducted in February, before the breakup became public, Pulisic had spoken warmly of Melton.
"I only look at her in the most positive way," he said. "She was a lot of fun, and she supported me in every way. She wanted to push me to enjoy my life a little bit more and do things with her and do things just in general. And I was grateful for that.
" His comments highlighted the supportive nature of their relationship, which now appears to have run its course. The situation unfolded alongside other sports and celebrity news. Six-time Emmy winner Hank Azaria criticized Taylor Swift for sitting courtside during the 2026 NBA Finals, calling it bothersome.
Meanwhile, golfer Nelly Korda received public support from Hilary Duff after her dramatic 2026 U.S. Women's Open victory. Travis Kelce, Swift's boyfriend, was also noted showing up to support her at a Hall of Fame induction. Pulisic, who was born and raised in Hershey, Pennsylvania, remains focused on his soccer career. He expressed optimism that the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will help erase the recent ineptitude of the U.S. men's national team.
"I can sit in my bed at night and picture holding up the World Cup trophy," he said in a recent interview. "I did that as a kid. I'm not going to stop. You have to believe.
