Christian Horner has revealed he lost money to Bernie Ecclestone following a bet with Sergio Perez.
Horner made a bet with Perez ahead of qualifying at the Japanese Grand Prix and lost, but it has now emerged that Ecclestone was the main beneficiary from the wager.
Perez replied, laughing: “Now you see how to motivate me!”, with Horner responding: “Haha! Well, I’ve always known that!”“I had a bet with him to put it on the front row, because his best qualifying performance had been P4 here,” Horner explained. Having come into the season under pressure to keep his seat for 2025, Perez’s improved form has bolstered his chances of staying at Red Bull beyond the end of the year.
