Now he’s ready to settle down as athletic director and head football coach at Christian High.Bugg, 38, played college football at Eastern Kentucky, where he was a two-time All-American as a tight end with 112 career receptions for 1,856 yards and 23 TDs, and is in the school’s Hall of Fame.He spent a short time in the Canadian Football League with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, then two seasons with the Spokane Shock of the Indoor Football League.
“It has been pretty busy, basically doing double duty,” said Bugg, an IT specialist, who has been in the Navy for 9½ years. “I get out in June, so things will slow down a little.Bugg replaces Danny Mitchell, who left after two years to become an assistant coach for the Vienna Vikings of the European League of Football.
“I’ve been on Danny’s staffs the last two seasons, so I know what’s expected here, know the tradition of winning,” Bugg said. “Most of the staff is staying on, so there shouldn’t be a huge transition. “This is going to be a challenge, but with my football experience and military background, I think I bring a unique perspective.”
