Christian Brothers took down Southern, 1-0 in the Shore Conference Tournament championship.
Just two days ago, Christian Brothers advanced to the Shore Conference semifinals after scoring on a wild pitch to end the game. That was Monday, but Wednesday’s swing in momentum came from an identical situation. Facing top-seeded Southern in the Shore Conference finale, CBA was threatening in the top of the 3rd inning.
Little was it known that Matejicka would be the only runner to stamp home plate in the Shore Conference Tournament championship. His hit, stolen base and Fahey’s bunt set them up to perfection for the eventual game-winner. The sophomore scattered two hits and struck out one Ram to lower his season earned run average to 2.58.
The bases were loaded, but Dufficy dug deep and recorded the punch-out to leave every runner stranded. Alongside Matejicka, Will Fahey, Danny Tsimbinos, Dylan Iwanyk, Jake Petro and Daniel Russo smacked a base hit each.
