ANGER: Thousands attended a demonstration on Saturday. The Met has now announced the officer who killed Chris Kaba has been suspended , investigators have revealed they are holding meetings with the Crown Prosecution Service.
News that the IOPC are meeting the CPS over the case will raise expectations that the officer who pulled the trigger might be charged. However, Khan – a former lawyer – said: “When there is a homicide investigation by an independent police watchdog, I think it is right that this officer is taken off operational duties and is suspended, because that enhances public confidence, which is crucial when you police by consent.”
“We have been in further contact with Chris’s family this week to answer a number of questions they have and to offer them privately and confidentially the opportunity to view video footage as soon as it is practicable.
