After a disappointing $70 million box office run, Crime 101 will officially begin streaming on Prime Video later this week. The Ruffalo and Hemsworth-led movie follows thief Mike Davis , who teams up with insurance broker Sharon for a heist, while the pair are pursued by Detective Lou Lubesnick . The film earned $71.8 million at the box office. Now, Amazon MGM Studios has officially confirmed that Crime 101 will be available to watch on Prime Video starting from Wednesday, April 1, 2026. This comes after the movie's box office performance was considered disappointing. Despite making over $70 million, the film had a $90 million budget, which it was unable to recoup nor profit off of in theaters. How Crime 101 Can Be Redeemed On Streaming Despite disappointing box office earnings, the crime thriller movie was a major critical success. Reviews for Crime 101 have been overwhelmingly positive, with the film currently holding a Certified Fresh 89% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics. Some even cite it as 2026's first great movie thanks to solid pacing and a strong, memorable cast of characters. Unfortunately, the biggest hurdle the film had to cross was its massive budget. Its $90 million budget only accounts for production cost, without factoring in its advertisement campaign nor the cut theaters get from ticket sales. As such, the film likely needed a whopping $180 million to break even, making it a financial failure despite the draw of familiar faces. However, this doesn't mean the movie's lack of success will be repeated upon its streaming release. In fact, audiences have also showered the film with praise; it currently holds an 85% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7 out of 10 on IMDb. Those who've actually seen the movie can attest to its high-octane action and riveting storyline. This is a good sign for the crime thriller movie's performance at home. Even though Crime 101's box office wasn't as strong as anticipated, the movie still has a chance to make itself known through its streaming release. It helps that it'll be on streaming for Easter weekend, potentially giving it a wider audience than if it had arrived later. What's Next For Hemsworth & Ruffalo In 2026? Crime 101 is just one of multiple projects both Hemsworth and Ruffalo have lined up for the rest of 2026. Hemsworth is expected to reprise his role as Thor on the cast of Avengers: Doomsday. Ruffalo's days with the MCU aren't over, either, as he'll be appearing as Bruce Banner in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Ruffalo's other forthcoming projects include the rom-com Good Sex, as well as two undated movies: Being Heumman and Santo Subito! He's also set to reprise his role as Tom Brandis in Task season 2. Hemsworth is also lined up for the undated films Stuntnuts: The Movie and Subversion, both of which are in post-production.
