.ChrisChristie said that Republicans are concerned Donald Trump 'can't beat' JoeBiden in the 2024 presidential election. 'I think after a while, this act, and you see him at one of those rallies, it's getting old,' Christie added.
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said on Tuesday that Republicans are concerned that former President Donald Trump"can't beat" President Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election.
Christie went on to discuss recent claims that Trump made that he had won the state of Nevada in both the 2016 and 2020 elections, both of which actually went blue. Christie said that this strategy is"not going to work" in 2024, according to an interview he did on MSNBC."To tell people that what you saw with your own eyes — you know, it's like that old country song, 'Well, they're either going to believe me or your lying eyes,'" said Christie.
The former governor went on to describe another weakness that Trump has going into 2024, which is that the former president has yet to be countered within the Republican Party"by someone who knows him." Christie then went on to explain that he helped prepare Trump for both the 2016 and 2020 presidential debates, and as such, Trump"knows what he's in for" and is"not anxious to go and see that.
Christie's comments come as he and Trump have feuded with each other since Trump left the White House in 2021. Christie announced his bid for the Republican Party's 2024 presidential nomination in June of last month and is currently against other Republican candidates, including Gov. Ron DeSantis , former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and Sen. Tim Scott .
