The California Highway Patrol said it had arrested a 20-year-old Castro Valley man Wednesday on suspicion of several charges related to a freeway shooting just outside the Caldecott Tunnel in Oakland last year.reporting a road-rage incident that preceded a shooting in eastbound Highway 24 lanes just west of the tunnel.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a victim vehicle with multiple bullet strikes on the roadway’s right shoulder. There were no reported injuries, but the ensuing investigation at the scene closed multiple lanes and snarled evening commute traffic., the CHP said detectives with its Golden Gate Division arrested the man and booked him into Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon.
