All eastbound lanes were closed at 3 p.m. for several hours as officers investigated an apparent shooting.
Two people were struck by gunfire Saturday afternoon on eastbound Interstate 580 at Seminary Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers responded to calls of a possible shooting about 2:11 p.m., and all lanes of eastbound I-580 were closed about 3:08 p.m. “The victim driver arrived at a hospital in San Leandro for treatment, however both victims have since been transported to other hospitals capable of providing a higher level of care,” A CHP spokesperson told Bay City News.
The lanes remained closed for several hours as officers investigated the apparent shooting, and were still closed as of 9:30 p.m., when the CHP said crews were resolving the closure and the lanes were expected to open shortly thereafter.
