CLEVELAND, Ohio – Chemical pollutants from the East Palestine train derailment in early 2023 made their way into 16 states, according to a research report newly published in the British-based academic journal Environmental Research Letters.
Chloride and other chemicals were detected in the atmosphere as far west as Wisconsin, up into Maine, as far east as Maine, and as far south as North Carolina, according to the research conducted by the National Atmospheric Deposition Program.
