In the film, the 12 Years a Slave star begins at odds with the recently widowed Bridget Jones, blowing his whistle with perhaps a bit too much force when she’s dropping off her children, Billy and Mabel , at school in the morning.
That's one of the things that's really interesting about it. There are other qualities to Mr. Wallaker, I think, that are engaging to Bridget, but sort of nothing to do with the top line statistics of him. One of those is in the way that he relates to Billy. The way that he relates to his understanding of the world. The fact that they compliment different aspects of each other, I think, is really interesting.
