Chinese President Xi Jinping will travel to Moscow in an upcoming state visit to Russia to meet with President Vladimir Putin, which China's Foreign Ministry has described as a 'trip for peace'.
The trip will mark President Xi's first visit to Russia since the invasion of Ukraine in February last year.
"They have charted the course and provided guidance for the sustained sound and steady growth of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era." Mr Wang said the two leaders are set to discuss bilateral relations, and major international and regional issues as the world enters a"new period of instability and transformation".
Sky News Australia's Asia Correspondent Brent O'Halloran told News Night host Kristie Lloyd the state visit was a"significant announcement". "They're set to discuss China's peace process plan for the Russia-Ukraine war and sign a few bilateral deals."
