Biro Geologi dan Sumber Mineral Wilayah Shandong berkata, deposit emas itu terletak di luar bandar Bandar Rushan, Wilayah Shandong, timur China.
“Kawasan deposit emas itu meliputi sebuah kawasan yang luas. “Bijih mudah dilombong dan dipakai,” kata biro berkenaan. Wilayah Shandong kaya dengan sumber emas dengan pengeluaran yang lebih besar daripada mana-mana kawasan wilayah lain di seluruh China sejak empat dekad yang lalu. Timbalan Ketua Briged Geologi ke-6 di biro itu, Zhou Mingling berkata, pencari dilaporkan menggali lebih 250 lubang sedalam 1,400 meter untuk mencari deposit itu.
Penilaian kerajaan menunjukkan deposit itu boleh menghasilkan 2,000 tan metrik bijih emas untuk sekurang-kurangnya 20 tahun.
