President Biden put out a statement saying Israel and Hamas had agreed to a cease-fire framework but admitted 'there is still work to do.' NBC News' Josh Lederman has details on the proposed framework and ongoing conflict.

BEIJING — When Palestinian factions, including senior officials from Hamas and Fatah, meet in Beijing this weekend, it will be the latest attempt at resolving deep divisions between rivals that have long battled each other for control of the West Bank and Gaza. The meeting will also mark a key — albeit cautious — step by China to pursue a more significant role in Middle East diplomacy. Beijing is not directly involved in the U.S.

The talks in Beijing will be held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, a sprawling compound of gardens, lakes, buildings and a hotel where the Communist Party receives foreign dignitaries. It will bring together a delegation of senior officials from Fatah including its deputy chairman, Mahmoud Aloul, with Hamas counterparts led by Haniyeh. China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi will meet with both sides, a Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson said when they confirmed the meetings.
