The Biden administration is telling Beijing that it's courting disaster by supporting Vladimir Putin. But China may be too big to sanction.
Wang Huiyao, president of the Beijing-based think tank the Center for China and Globalization, suggested in aSunday that China step up as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia to provide Putin “an offramp” from his current aggression.

“If China were to decide to be an economic provider [to Russia] … they only make up 15 to 20 percent of the world’s economy,” White House spokesperson. “The G7 countries make up more than 50 percent. So, there are a range of tools at our disposal in coordination with our European partners should we need to use them.”
