It's a big year for the Children's Miracle Network.It's celebrating 40 years of impacting children's lives in the Susquehanna Valley. Click here to donate to the telethon.The first Children's Miracle Network Telethon began in Hershey in 1984. It was part of a national event that lasted 21 hours and included celebrity hosts Marie Osmond and John Schneider . In the early years, the telethon was held at Hershey's Chocolate World.
Former Penn Stater and Pittsburgh Steeler Franco Harris also played a big role in the telethons. He appeared alongside the News 8 team during several telethons and served as a Children's Miracle Network spokesperson.Over the years, so many members of the News 8 team have given their time, their voice and their heart to raise money for sick and injured children in the Susquehanna Valley.
