Flames engulfed a property in the Bailey Road area, in the capital Dhaka, at about 10pm local time. The fire spread quickly through the seven floors of the building, trapping people inside. Footage circulating on social media shows the flames spread in a matter of a few minutes.
The death toll is likely to go up as firefighters still battle with the fire at the scene.
