BROOKEVILLE, Kan. - A young child allegedly discovered a loaded and unsecured shotgun in his home and used it to kill his 5-year-old and 8-year-old siblings.from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, officers were dispatched to a home at around 3:15 p.m. on March 28 after receiving a report of a shooting with two injured children. Upon arriving to the house, police found a 5-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy suffering from severe gunshot wounds.

The 5-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 8-year-old succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on April 3. Authorities soon determined that a young child in the home "located a loaded, unsecured shotgun and shot and killed two siblings.

" The age of the child was not released. Following the investigation, 37-year-old Aaron French and 28-year-old Makayla French, the father and mother of the victims, were arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated endangering a child and two counts of aggravated endangering a child.
