An air ambulance was scrambled to the scene in Monsall on Sunday afternoon (June 4)
Police and paramedics swarmed Swanley Avenue on Sunday afternoon following the incident before the dog was understood to have been seized by officers.
One Swanley Avenue resident said: "My son heard loud screams and got me and we went running down the stairs. The young lad had gone back inside the house. Another, who lives on nearby Ridgewood Avenue, added: "There were loads of police on Swanley Avenue earlier, at about 1pm, and an air ambulance just behind as its the only place it could land.
It is also understood that a woman has also been arrested following the incident on suspicion of having a dog that was dangerously out of control. Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for full details.
