“We started early on engaging with the community by talking, meeting with residents, organizations, the Obama Foundation,” Hairston said. “We made sure that we’ve kept those conversations going. I have monthly ward meetings and someone from the Foundation is present at each meeting to keep people abreathed, to answer any questions should they arise.
