The Chicago Teachers Union was sued by four members Tuesday for allegedly failing to publish financial audits for four years.
Then-Chicago Teachers Union Vice President Stacy Davis Gates speaks during a news conference at the union's Near West Side headquarters, Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, in Chicago.
Bloch called the lawsuit “harassing” and “frivolous,” noting that union members can examine audits by contacting CTU Chief of Staff Matthew Luskin. The Liberty Justice Center also posted three emails sent for audit records by Philip Weiss, which references a Chicago Public Schools social worker and member of CTU. Weiss on May 1 requested audit records covering 2020 to 2023. He asked again two days later and made a third request on May 8.
