If CTU members approve the remote learning action Tuesday, Chicago Public Schools CEO Pedro Martinez said there would be no CPS instruction Wednesday.
Chicago Public Schools CEO Pedro Martinez said classes would be canceled Wednesday if Chicago Teachers Union members approve action Tuesday that would pave the way for remote learning amid the city surge in COVID-19 cases.
Martinez said Tuesday he asked the union to delay its vote, and he expressed optimism that CPS and CTU could reach an agreement. He said CPS submitted a proposal to CTU that includes a metric that would spur an individual school to transition to remote learning and would allow principals to restore the daily health questionnaires and temperature checks in place the last school year.
Students leave Darwin Elementary in Logan Square on Monday, the first day back to school from winter break for Chicago Public Schools.
