Linda Anthony allegedly received a Paycheck Protection Program loan and an Economic Injury Disaster Loan after lying about owning a business that did not exist.

A U.S. postal worker is facing multiple felony charges for nearly $45,000 in fraud related to pandemic-era relief funds.Linda Anthony, 52, of Chicago , is charged with two counts of theft of governmental property, two counts of theft by deception, one count of loan fraud, one count of benefits fraud, three counts of forgery, and two counts of income tax fraud.

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul's office said she received a Paycheck Protection Program loan, an Economic Injury Disaster Loan, and unemployment benefits totaling nearly $45,000 while working for the U.S. Postal Service in 20200 and 2021.Anthony is accused of applying for a PPP loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration by falsely claiming she owned a business that did not exist. She allegedly received a $10,000 Economic Injury Disaster Loan in June 2020, and a $20,830 PPP loan in April 2021. During that time, she also received $13,866 in unemployment benefits.She pleaded not guilty to all charges at her first court appearance on Monday. She faces up to 15 years in prison on the most serious charges if convicted. Anthony is due back in court on May 19.
