Jessy Schram, who plays Hannah Asher on ChicagoMed Season 5, is returning as a series regular for the remainder of Season 7 of the medical drama.
Jessy Schram's character Hannah Asher will be bumped up to a series regular on Chicago Med. The series is part of the interconnected Chicago franchise created by Dick Wolf, which also includes Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Justice. Chicago Med debuted in 2015 as the third show from the franchise, is currently airing its season 7. The medical drama stars Nick Gehlfuss, Marlyne Barrett, S. Epatha Merkerson, Oliver Platt, and Jurassic World's Brian Tee.
Hannah Asher is a character who originally had a 10-episode arc that ran from midway through Chicago Med season 5 to the season 6 premiere. Hannah is an OBGYN whose substance abuse struggles caused issues in her working relationship with Gehlfuss's character, Will Halstead. The pair eventually developed a tumultuous romantic relationship, which briefly resumed after Will had Hannah sent to a rehabilitation clinic until she relapsed and later checked back in, leaving the hospital.
During her time off Chicago Med, Schram returned to her home at the Hallmark Channel. The actress initially cut her teeth on the fast-paced sets of Hallmark's romantic comedies, of which the Christmas-themed entries have especially made a cultural impact. Clearly, they welcomed Schram back with open arms.
Chicago Med was due for another shakeup in the lead up to the season 7 finale. With Hannah back in the picture, Will Halstead's love life will get more complicated than ever. While their romantic history is tinged with tragedy and melodrama, that doesn't necessarily mean that fans will reject her returning into his arms, considering that this kind of relationship is central to many TV medical dramas.
