The latest episode of Chicago Med sees Dr. Mitch Ripley struggling with the tragic loss of his best friend, leading him down a dangerous path of self-destruction. His actions threaten his career and his relationship with Hannah Asher. Will this be the wake-up call he needs?
After a thrilling One Chicago crossover event that saw Gaffney Medical Center busier than ever, the latest episode of Chicago Med, 'In The Wake,' brought a sense of normalcy back to the hospital. Season 10 has been a rollercoaster so far, and the latest episode appears to have set the stage for another major character to embark on an intriguing arc. That character is Dr.
Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell), who is spiraling out of control following the tragic loss of his childhood best friend Sully to cancer. A newly released synopsis and sneak peek for the next episode, Episode 13's 'Take a Look in the Mirror,' tease a downward spiral for Ripley as his actions may lead to regrettable consequences. The synopsis reads: 'Lenox's mentorship is put to the test; Asher helps a religious young woman with an ectopic pregnancy; Ripley's self-destructive behavior continues to escalate.' Ripley is understandably overwhelmed by Sully's passing, believing he could have done more to encourage Sully to seek help earlier, potentially altering the course of his illness. To numb his pain, Ripley has turned to alcohol. While a single bender to drown his sorrows might be understandable, his habitual reliance on it only guarantees disaster, especially for a medical professional. Episode 12 ends with Ripley returning to the bar for another round of heavy drinking, and things take a turn for the worse when he gets into a brawl with someone outside. The new sneak peek reveals the severity of the fight, as the victim ends up in the hospital, becoming Ripley's patient. 'You got into a fight last night, didn't you?' Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) questions Ripley, who dismissively replies, 'I'm fine.' The clip then cuts to Ripley attending to the patient who is in critical condition. Instead of attempting to resuscitate the man as he starts to code blue, Ripley contemplates, leaving Dr. Frost (Darren Barnet) bewildered as he asks, 'What the hell are you doing?' Given Ripley's troubled past, this development has the potential to spiral dangerously out of control. However, this experience with grief could force him to confront some of those repressed emotions and finally seek the help he desperately needs. Could Mitch's self-destructive behavior be the final straw for Hannah Asher? While the trailer shows how Mitch's actions could jeopardize his career, there is a possibility that it could also cost him his relationship with Hannah. Both have been going through a rough patch lately, with Hannah often acting as the bigger person. But this situation might mark the beginning of the end for this couple. Hannah could be nearing her breaking point, and the events that unfold from this latest problem could reveal signs that they might not be compatible. Should they break up, it would leave the door open for a potential Archer and Asher romance, something fans have long desired. But let's not get ahead of ourselves
