A letter condemning the 'US-Israel War Machine' piece at the Chicago Cultural Center was signed by 27 members of the Chicago City Council on Tuesday.

The figure has a shirt depicting symbols of money and parts of a tank, according to the photo. At the top of the shirt is a bowtie with the words “Uncle Sam," and a bucket of falling tears is at the side of the figure. They labeled the artwork “divisive” and argued such pieces should not receive public funds without a “transparent” vetting process. The cultural center is a “public space funded by taxpayer dollars,” according to the aldermen, who added that displays there should “reflect the values of our diverse and vibrant city.”
