High school students with the Chicago Scholars program are interviewing with colleges and impressing the recruits.

Chicago high school students will meet with colleges at Navy Pier Tuesday, with some students getting admission letters on the spot.Six hundred Chicago Scholars, accomplished first-generation and underserved Chicago high school seniors, will get the chance to meet with colleges at Navy Pier Tuesday.

"Many of these students over the course of their summer worked all summer, identifying the school they wanted to go to," Jeffrey Beckham Jr., CEO of Chicago Scholars, said. "They did the common app well before many of their peers and they have been prepping to come here today to interview with over 120 schools...They will conduct 3,000 interviews all today. Many of them will get on-site admissions today. Last year, we had about $40 million in merit aid given out to students.
