Previews for the finale gave away early on that Pascal would be back in the blazes after leaving the CFD in disgrace, while also confirming that Chicago Fire is delivering a particularly nasty inferno.
It will also be the last episode under the tenure of showrunner Andrea Newman, with executive producer Victor Teran replacing her moving forward. Fortunately, NBC didn't hold off on deciding what the future holds for Chicago Fire. It's generally the One Chicago drama most likely to end the season on a cliffhanger, airing between Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. on Wednesday nights.
Fire has held on to that middle time slot for years now, except for when crossovers swap Fire with Med. While another massive crossover hasn't been confirmed as of this writing, the network has had a good thing going with the franchise since Fire started it all in 2012. As of 2026, the drama is on the verge of reaching an impressive episode milestone that only two other current shows in Dick Wolf's TV universe have reached.

Chicago Fire Season 15 Has Been Confirmed By NBC Fans don't have to start summer hiatus by wondering about the future of Chicago Fire, since NBC renewed the founding One Chicago drama for a fifteenth season comprised of 21 episodes back in March 2026.
All three shows in the franchise are guaranteed for the 2026-2027 TV schedule, and all three will hold onto their time slots. The season 15 renewal guarantees that Chicago Fire will reach the 300-episode milestone after ending season 14 with a grand total of 295 episodes. Fire is still well behind Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order with 500+ episodes each elsewhere in the Dick Wolf universe, but it's certainly impressive.
After Chicago Fire went above and beyond to celebrate the 200th episode with Casey's return, the new showrunner and team of writers will have the summer hiatus months to craft what could be must-see TV for the upcoming 300th episode milestone. Thankfully, the order for 21 episodes means Fire will reach that point early in season 15.
When New Episodes Of Chicago Fire Will Release While the Law & Order corner of the Wolf world got bad news recently with the cancellation of Law & Order: Organized Crime, One Chicago is already set to start the next seasons on a strong note. NBC has confirmed that Chicago Fire has a slot in its fall TV lineup, with One Chicago Wednesdays holding onto their place in primetime.
An exact premiere date hasn't been announced yet, but all signs point to an early fall arrival. NBC has already confirmed that Line of Fire, the drama that brings Peter Krause back to TV after his 9-1-1 exit, will kick off on Mondays in September. The first One Chicago Wednesday of the fall is likely in September as well. One Chicago Wednesdays are the only nights that NBC hasn't changed for the next TV season.
Line of Fire is getting a strong Monday night launch after The Voice, Tuesdays will be taken over by the NBA, The Traitors is bringing reality TV to Law & Order Thursdays, and Newlyweds follows Happy's Place on Fridays. What Chicago Fire's Season 15 Story Could Be Chicago Fire could feel like a different show in season 15 with a new showrunner taking over, although it's worth noting that Victor Teran has been a writer and producer on the show going back to 2021.
The franchise also has a history of cutting One Chicago actors between seasons, so summer hiatus could be when big answers come. Considering the long and bumpy road of Severide and Kidd's romance over the years, perhaps season 15 will actually allow them to become parents after the infuriating pregnancy fakeout at the start of Chicago Fire season 14.

It would be particularly interesting to see their journey towards parenthood if Severide does take the OFI job while Kidd is the one to continue rushing into danger at 51. The assumption after her pregnancy reveal last season was that she'd eventually have to bench herself, much like Dawson did years ago when she and Casey were expecting.
Cruz and his wife are expecting twins, so that will be a whole new source of stress for him to deal with in the fall if everything goes according to plan. That's certainly never guaranteed on NBC's Wednesday nights, and One Chicago pregnancies often involve a crisis in some form or other.
Dom Pascal's return just in time for the finale could be a sign that Dermot Mulroney will be back for season 15, rather than having Chicago Fire bring the chief back for a one-off appearance. The love triangle involving Violet, Vasquez, and Novak can't end soon enough, so perhaps that will be wrapped up by the end of season 14.
