The Chicago Fire Department is battling an extra-alarm fire in a West Side warehouse Tuesday morning.
Fire officials say no one was inside the warehouse and fortunately no injuries were reported."Because of the size and the length of the building we had to escalate the alarm for more manpower," Assistant Deputy Fire Commissioner Donald Walker said. The building sustained major damage, including the collapse of the roof.
"When we deem the building safe to go in we can find out whta caused the fire," Assistant Deputy Fire Commissioner Walker said. The building's tenant was on scene Tuesday morning and said the business once inside the warehouse was called American Masonry and Supply. Fire officials also say the fire was contained to the warehouse itself and never spread to any nearby structures.Related Topics
